Sit Pretty #QuarantineCocktail

Today is National Cocktail Day and I wanted to take a minute to raise a glass and say cheers! Many of us may be sheltered in place at home and not able to be outside but in this era where social distancing is more important than ever, here is a little liquid inspiration.

I named this cocktail “Sit Pretty” for a couple of reasons…

  • You can see my pup, Cali sitting pretty in the background.

  • We all are going to be doing a lot of sitting in the next few days so when you can, take a moment to make yourself a cocktail

  • The design of this cocktail is so that while it sits in front of you it’s visually appealing and will hopefully make you see that brighter days are ahead of us

ingredients:

  • 2.5-3 oz Tequila

  • 1 oz Honey Citron Tea Marmalade (Korean Tea that can comes in the form of a marmalade. Can be found in any asian store or click here to order on amazon)

  • 1 oz of Butterfly Pea Tea Coconut Syrup (recipe below)

  • Mint Sprigs

  • Honey

  • Soda Water

  • Ice Cubes

  • Coconut Palm Sugar

  • Cane Sugar

  • 1 cup Coconut Water

  • Butterfly Pea Tea Leaves (can order on amazon)

prep it up:

Le't’s start with the Butterfly Pea Tea Coconut Simple Syrup

In a Saucepan add 1 cup of the coconut water and 1 cup of cane sugar. Add in the butterfly pea tea leaves and heat until all the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool. You can bottle or store this syrup in your fridge for future use.

shake it up:

  1. Mix the coconut palm sugar and cane sugar onto a plate. Rim a glass with honey and dip it into the sugar mixture.

  2. Place ice cubes into the glass followed by the butterfly pea tea coconut simple syrup and set aside.

  3. In a shaker, add the honey citron tea marmalade with the Tequila and give it a few hard shakes.

  4. Pour contents over the ice cubes and you should see the layer of blue at the bottom followed by light yellow/orangish. The cool thing about butterfly tea is that when it engages with citrus is begins to magically change color into a purple.

  5. Top with soda water for your liking.

  6. Garnish with the mint sprigs and enjoy!

Note, this recipe is designed for one cocktails serving but feel free to increase as you see fit for your number of guests!
